The Melbourne Mastersingers

The Melbourne Mastersingers is a tenor/bass ensemble which meets for a season and then goes into recess. It had one such season in 2000, in August and September, singing a light programme of music for a couple of gigs.

Sometimes it works under other names. When singing barbershop it is called The Barber Qs. When singing into the football season it can be known as The First Eighteen. This was its title for the August-September season in 2000.

The repertoire ranges from classical to shanties, spirituals and pops songs — with perhaps a footy song or two on occasions. The men have sung a Gregorian chant programme, in monks’ costumes, to launch a wine.

Melbourne Mastersingers is open to men of all ranges and ages.

For great fun and good singing contact Faye Dumont.
