Music Library

A choir which has purchased music every year for 26 years has quite a collection!! The music library of FDS is housed in the back of a church in Richmond, Victoria. There are major works and miniatures. Some are accompanied, some a cappella. The choir also owns orchestral sets of a few major works.

The shelves of boxed music are set out as follows:

Numbers of copies of works vary widely. There are over 800 copies of some Christmas works which have been bought for massed choirs. Many works bought for the Melbourne Chamber Choir have about 30 copies, many for the Melbourne Women’s Choir are 30–35 in number. The numbers of male-voiced works are often small, being approximately 10 copies.

If works are not in the current repertoire of one of our choirs, they may be available for hire. Octavo sized works are hired at approximately $1.00 and larger/large works are approximately $2.00 (please note that postage is additional to these prices). Loss or damage will incur extra charges. A full catalogue of the library is close to being completed.
