My song in the night, a US folk hymn arranged by Faye Dumont, sets the scene for a sacred and secular concert of twilight, moonlight and sweet dreams...

Beginning with My Song in the Night, an arrangement of a US folk hymn, this is a sacred and secular concert of twilight, moonlight and sweet dreams.

Featuring in the sacred music will be Cantate Domino by Roueche, In pace by Lassus and Evening Prayer by Humperdinck; together with three beautiful spirituals - Heaven Somewhere, I Know Moonrise and Kumbaya.

The Welsh All Through the Night, Irish Twilight Song and Japanese Hotaru Koi will be bracketed with two pieces derived from folk ideas - Mountain Nights by Kodaly and Two Nightingales by Lutislawski. Classics include Sure on This Shining Night by Barber, Come Gentle Sleep by Schubert, Ships of Arcady by Head, and a beautiful arrangement of Song to the Moon by Dvorak.

For tunes to take away with you, there will be arrangements of A Nightlingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Lyllabye (My Angel, Goodnight), Moonlight Becomes You, It's Only a Paper Moon and In the Still of the Night.

In this mix of the sacred and secular  the Melbourne Women's Choir will present an imaginative and gentle concert leaving a memory of soft loveliness.
