Come sing with the Melbourne Chamber Choir and the Melbourne Women's Choir in 2012
The Melbourne Women's Choir sings in three to four parts - soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1, alto 2.
Repertoire is classically based, with occasional forays into gospel, jazz and popular arrangements. This year the choir is singing a concert and premiering a work by Courtney Williams at Choral@Montsalvat, making a CD titled Heavenly Voices, singing a concert in homage of Claude Debussy for his 150th-year celebration, and singing carols in Trinity College Chapel for Christmas.
The Melbourne Women's Choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings in East Melbourne.
The Melbourne Chamber Choir, with its new conductor Mark Shiell, is singing a programme of sea songs at Choral@Montsalvat, and premiering a piece by Warren Lenthall; is singing a concert of choir and brass, including music of Gabrieli for his 400th-year celebration, and Magnificats from Gregorian to Monteverdi to Berio.
The choir sings in four-up-to-multiple soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts, and often incorporates choristers as soloists.
The Melbourne Chamber Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings in East Melbourne
Both choirs need choristers with good vocal development and sight-reading competence.
